Brief overview: This grape was used for centuries in Bordeaux as a blending grape, ranging from as little as 5% and as high as 70%. Cabernet Franc is also one of the East Coast of the United States most consistent grapes with great success in Virginia and New Jersey. Cabernet Franc is a parent grape to Cabernet Sauvignon however its flavors are quite the opposite with spicy earth tones, floral notes, and a lower tannin expression
Aroma: strawberry, rose petal, lavender, spicy peppercorn, and cinnamon
Palate: red currant, raspberry, strawberry, rose petal, green strawberry, spicy peppercorn. Cabernet Franc has a smoother and more elegant palate than Cabernet Sauvignon with a lot less tannin.

Brief overview: While Merlot is another Bordeaux variety it is grown in most wine regions around the world and is one of the more popular red wines throughout history.

Brief overview: Another Bordeaux varietal! Petit Verdot is a very tiny high acid grape with very distinct flavors. It was a long-time blending grape of Bordeaux often being used in very small percentages 1 to 5 %. It has gained a lot of popularity as a straight varietal wine in boutique wineries around the United States
Aroma: Lots of berries, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, black licorice
Palate: Same as aroma filled with bramble berries. Wines made from Petit Verdot are very distinct with bright acids and rich berry flavors and this wine falls right into that profile.
Appetizer: baked brie and jam, mixed berries, soft cheeses
Main Course: The rich flavors of Petit Verdot go best with game birds such as pheasant, quail, or grouse. Also try a grilled lamb or steak.
